Autodesk Inventor Server Engine for 3ds Max 2015 is a background translation component that enables 3ds Max 2015 to open native Autodesk Inventor part (.ipt) and assembly (.iam) files without requiring a full Inventor installation. It converts precise CAD geometry into render-ready polygonal meshes while preserving assembly hierarchy, object names, units, and, where possible, colors and material assignments. This lets artists and engineers bring mechanical and product-design data directly into 3ds Max for visualization, animation, and high-quality rendering. The importer provides options to control tessellation quality and select components, helping balance visual fidelity with performance on large assemblies. Note that Inventor’s parametric features and constraints are not editable after import; models come in as static geometry. Install this component if you regularly work with Inventor data in 3ds Max; it is optional and not required for other workflows.
